Soufiene Djahel, Liam Murphy, Dawid Nowak and Anthony Ventresque are organisers of a special session at the 16th IEEE/ACM DS-RT 2012. This special session focuses on simulation tools and real time applications in relation to road traffic management and prediction for smart cities, from both the decision maker perspective as well as the end user point of view. Loads of data (e.g. real-time traffic information) and new facilities (e.g. communication devices) are available out there and force engineering companies, road authorities, and communications experts to redesign their solutions. We aim at bringing together industrial experts and researchers from academia to present their results and discuss the challenges related to real time traffic management and simulation for Intelligent transportation Systems (ITS).

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Distributed Traffic Simulation
  • Real-Time Data Aggregation and Communication
  • Data Collection in Road Networks
  • Real Time Traffic Prediction Algorithms
  • Vehicles Routing Algorithms under Real Time Traffic Constraints
  • Visual Tools for Road Traffic Management Systems

Important dates:

  • Submission deadline: June 21, 2012
  • Notification of acceptance: June 25, 2011
  • Camera-ready version: TBA
  • Conference: October 25-27, 2012 at Dublin, Ireland
