Congratulations to Anthony Ventresque who has been awarded an SFI Industry Fellowship of €110,000 to work in collaboration with IBM Research Lab in Dublin on performance improvement of Urban Mobility Simulation.
This project is related to the fast and accurate simulation of what-if scenarios in the application area of Smarter Transportation. Transport Mobility Simulation is a very computationally expensive process; however, applications of this technology require super fast solutions which are largely unavailable. This project will help to realise the goals of city traffic operators and urban planners who are interested in answering questions such as ‘what will be the impact on congestion levels in the next 30 minutes if we close this lane?’ or ‘would adding an additional lane to the M50 address Dublin’s transportation needs in the next few years?'.
