Vanessa Ayala-Rivera holds a Ph.D. degree in computer science from University College Dublin (UCD) at Ireland. She is currently a Research Scientist at UCD. She is a member of the Performance Engineering Laboratory (PEL), the Security, Privacy, Adaptation and Requirements Engineering team (SPARE), and the Irish Software Research Centre (Lero). Her main research interests are software engineering, data security and privacy, digital forensics, cybersecurity, and performance engineering.

She also has extensive industrial experience (more than 10 years of experience). In her professional life, he has been researcher, technical analyst, and software engineer; working in different industries, such as retail, information technologies, and banking.
