May

  • 05 May: Vanessa Ayala-Rivera, Omar Portillo, and Anthony Ventresque participated in the 2017 UCD School of Computer Science Innovation Sprint Programme held at NovaUCD. Vanessa was the overall winner for her pitch on Cloud9. The Sprint was a 1-day initiative designed to assist researchers in understanding and defining more clearly the commercial potential of the outputs emerging from their research activities.

April

  • 04 April: The paper 'Scalable Anti-KNN: Decentralized Computation of k-Furthest-Neighbor Graphs with HyFN' by Simon Bouget, Yerom David Bromberg, Francois Taiani and Anthony Ventresque has been accepted for publication at the 17th IFIP International Conference on Distributed Applications and Interoperable Systems (DAIS 2017).

  • 13 March: Anthony Ventresque is presenting two posters at ICST, the 10th IEEE International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation:

February

  • 06 February: Well done to Vanessa Ayala-Rivera who passed her PhD viva today. Her thesis entitled "Enhancing the Utility of Anonymized Data in Privacy-Preserving Data Publishing" was accepted by the examiners with no corrections required. The External Examiner was Prof. Marc Gelgon from Polytech Nantes, France and the Internal Examiner was Dr. Nhien An Le Khac.

  • 27 November: The paper "Assessing and Improving the Mutation Testing Practice of PIT" by Thomas Laurent, Mike Papadakis, Marinos Kintis, Christopher Henard, Yves Le Traon and Anthony Ventresque has been accepted for publication at ICST, the 10th IEEE International Conference on Software Testing, Verification and Validation.

October

  • 18 October: Congratulations to Anthony Ventresque who has been awarded a NIIF grant from UCD (worth €38,000). The New Interdisciplinary Initiatives Fund (NIIF) provides practical ‘seed’ support for new interdisciplinary projects and ideas that are challenging and ambitious. The title of the project is "Advancing Computational Archaeology: Onsite Digital Capture and Analysis of Megalithic" .

  • 12 January: The paper 'iMOS: Enabling VoIP QoS Monitoring at Intermediate Nodes in an OpenFlow SDN' by Christina Thorpe, Adriana Hava, Julien Langlois, Alexis Dumas and Cristian Olariu has been accepted for publication in the 3rd IEEE Symposium on Software Defined Systems SDS 2016, running in conjunction with the IEEE Int Conference on Cloud Engineering, which will be held in Berlin, Germany between 4-8 April 2016.

  • 7 December: Takfarinas Saber gave a keynote on "Multi-objective VM Reassignment for Large Scale Data Centres" at the First International Workshop on Sustainable Data Centres and Cloud Computing (SD3C), co-located with the IEEE/ACM International Conference on Utility and Cloud Computing. The event was c0-organised by Barry O'Sullivan from Insight@UCC.
  • 5 December: The paper entitled "uCCP: An Approach for Continuous Capacity Planning in the Cloud with Uptime-based Pricing" by Kamil Smug and Christina Thorpe has been accepted for publication as a poster paper at the IEEE International Conference on Cloud Engineering (IC2E 2016).

  • 10 November: Congratulations to Quentin Bragard and Takfarinas Saber who claimed third prize at the biggest Blockchain Hackathon in Europe, which took place from 6th - 8th November in Dublin. Their project was called "Open Charity", a safe, decentralized system allowing users to issue IOUs ("I Owe You" tokens) as charitable donations. See more
